The Ambassadors of Excellence programme seeks to enable governmental departments to advance performance, improve services and get first-hand experience of the best international practices and standards as part of Dubai Strategic Plan 2015.

The bylaw has been designed to implement the law No. 11/ Year 2009, which was issued by UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to commensurate with the new requirements and developments in the sports sector.

The decision No.8/ Year 2012 issued by the crown prince, consists of15 articles pertaining to all aspects of work, beginning from the formulation of a club and its board of directors, as well as its powers and functions up to the executive administration of the clubs including regulation of technical, administrative and financial functions.

The new facility of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) was built at a total cost of AED 45 million.

A large gathering of invitees was present as Sheikh Hamdan unveiled of the memorial plaque on the edifice, located in Al-Warsan 3 in Dubai city.

After the official opening, Sheikh Hamdan went around the facility covering a total area of over 270,000sq feet.

While visiting various sections, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the latest medical equipments and ambulance services provided by the corporation.

The new facility also houses training rooms and lecture halls to give training in ambulance services.

He was also briefed on the latest device to activate the lung and the heart in cases of emergency ambulance, which is the first of its kind in the region.

The workshop was held to familiarise the supervisors with their role under the third phase of the programme.

The workshop was opened by Abdulla Al Shaibani, Secretary-General of the Dubai Executive Council.

Al Shaibani referred to the great attention paid by Shaikh Hamdan to the youth and his directives to support the young people as they are the real wealth to build this nation and bolster its march.

“The programme is working in line with the objectives of the social development scopes of the Dubai strategic plan 2015 on backing education in a strategic manner and to achieve the goals set by the programme,” Al Shaibani noted. He expressed happiness at the vital role played by school supervisors in following up the implementation of the programme with students.

“The programme is making big strides thanks to the good cooperation among the General Secretariat of the DEC, the Human Resources Department of the Dubai government, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), the Dubai Education Zone and the schools participating in the programme.”

A total of 18 supervisors of schools signed in the programme attended the workshop.

After cutting the traditional red ribbon, Sheikh Hamdan toured exhibitors’ stands where he acquainted himself with the latest developments in products for the critical communications market, showcasing new applications, terminals, accessories, test equipment and network solutions.

Samsung Life Insurance, a Seoul-listed company with a market capitalization of over $17bn and assets under management of over $100bn, and is the number one life insurance provider in Korea. The collaboration with ICD is consistent with SLI’s goal to expand beyond its core domestic market.

HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and ICD Board member, added that “The alliance demonstrates renewed business confidence in Dubai and the UAE and further reinforces ICD as a strategic investment partner for global multi-national organizations due to its commitment to growth and expansion in the region”.

Commenting on the venture, Keun-Hee Park, President and CEO of SLI, stated that “Samsung Life Insurance see’s significant growth potential in life insurance services in the MENA and sub-Saharan Africa regions, markets in which penetration levels are significantly below developed nations but where consumer appetite for insurance is rising”.

The collaboration is expected to initially assess market opportunities in the UAE and GCC markets with a view to also expanding its remit to the wider MENA region and other emerging markets, including sub-Saharan Africa. The parties also intend to use this alliance as a springboard to consider opportunities in other fields, such as non-life insurance and property.

On the partnership Mr Park of SLI concluded that “We believe that the collaboration with Investment Corporation of Dubai provides the perfect platform with which to assess and capitalize on long term growth opportunities, combining our expert sector knowledge and high quality service offering with ICD’s strong presence in and understanding of emerging markets”.

Mohammed Al Shaibani, Executive Director and CEO of ICD, commented that, “We believe that the long term trend in the emerging market insurance sector will remain positive, in particular life insurance, and we are very pleased to be collaborating on this initiative with Samsung Life Insurance, an institution who shares our long term belief in emerging markets and who has a long standing reputation for excellence in the industry”.

UAE President asked Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to lead the UAE delegation to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Consultative Summit that will be held tomorrow in Riyadh.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed expressed hopes that the upcoming summit with achieve the goals of the GCC people for more cooperation between our countries in order to enhance the progress of the council and highlight its role regionally and internationally.

His Highness said that the regular and consultative meeting of GCC leaders reflects positively in what was achieved so far by the council and he wished that this summit headed by King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia will represent a new milestone to enhance GCC collaboration.

Following a recitation from the holy Quran, the SKGEP awards ceremony started with a documentary highlighting the visionary leadership qualities of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Sheikh Mohammed then presented the awards to winners of the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Programme from federal entities in addition to the exceptional individuals and celebrated teamwork accomplishments.

The event also celebrated a number of patriotic icons who played an important role in establishing and solidifying the Union of the emirates under one banner. Sheikh Mohammed awarded the Mohammed Bin Rashid Badge Sash to Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative in the Eastern Region Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, the late Hmouda bin Ali bin Ghanim Al Dhaheri represented by his son Mohammed, the late Ahmed bin Sultan bin Saleem Al Falasi represented by his son Sultan and to the late Saif Saeed bin Ghobash Al Marri represented by his son Omar Saif Ghobash who is currently UAE’s Ambassador to Russia.

During the ceremony Sheikh Mohammed went on stage where he honoured journalists and media professionals by presenting them with distinguished Arab Journalism Awards.

Sheikh Mohammed presented Special Awards to Lalia Rostom and Rafiq Khoury. He also presented the 2012 Media Personality of the Year Award to Mohammed Nasser Al Sanousi. Finally, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum honored Dr. Badriah Al Bishr who won the Newspaper Column Award.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed congratulated the winners of the Arab Journalism Award in its 11th edition wishing them with luck in their fields and calling for more contributions and innovations in the Arab media.

He hailed the organizer of the Arab Media Forum and Arab Journalism Award who were able to assemble
this crowd of media and journalists from around the Arab world along with foreign journalists. This according to His Highness underlines the importance of the two events.

UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum commended the role of the Dubai Press Club, part of the Government of Dubai Media Office, in organizing and managing the event stressing that that UAE will remain oasis for freedom, justice, coexistence, peace and a center connecting people from around the world.
